Alienware unveiled its latest Area-51- Laptop & Desktop

Area-51 Desktop

The new Area-51 desktop breaks with tradition-no more proprietary components here-but instead, uses standard ATX parts to make life easier for the user when it comes to customization and upgrading. This redesign enables the usage of standard power supplies, motherboards, and fan mounts to satisfy the long-asked-for flexibility by customers. One of the notable features is the inclusion of a daughterboard to manage lighting and cable organization; a conversion kit is available to make it compatible with third-party motherboards. That's a representation of Alienware's shift toward more personalize and durable PC designs. The Area-51 desktop is expected to be available in Q1 2025, starting at $4,499.

Area-51 Laptops

The company is also unveiling the Area-51 laptops in 16-inch and 18-inch flavors, with Intel Arrow Lake CPUs and next-gen Nvidia GPUs. These configurations begin at $3,199, though there are some more affordable entry-level options from $1,999. Additional features of these laptops include RGB lighting on the trackpad, keyboard, and even fans, plus a liquid teal anodized finish. The aluminum chassis houses up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX, Nvidia 50-series GPUs, 64GB RAM, and 2TB storage. Despite their heft-7.6 lbs for the 16-inch, 10 lbs for the 18-inch-a revamped thermal system ups airflow by 37% and cuts noise by 15%. Ports include HDMI 2.1, Thunderbolt 5/USB-C, and USB-A, while displays use IPS panels instead of OLED.
